The techie had taken a flat on rent about two-and-a-half kilometre from his office. He used to return home late as his office hours demanded so.
On Sunday, Victor had left office with his colleague around 3.30 am. He took the Pune-Mumbai Highway. According to police, he was driving at a breakneck speed and had probably lost control before ramming into the vehicle coming from the opposite direction at Dehu Road crossing. They were taken to the hospital, where both were declared dead.
A pall of gloom descended on Haridevpur after the news of Victor's death reached the locality. Victor's father Arindam Guha, an ex-army man who now works with the sales tax department, said: "I still cannot understand how this could happen to him."
Victor was the second of his two sons. "He was bright and always full of life," said Victor's uncle Himanshu.
