City malls, restaurants and clubs to remain open

Kolkata: All the city malls, along with most of the bars and restaurants and social clubs, will function as usual on Wednesday.
Manmohan Bagree, vice-president of South City mall, said all facilities at the mall will stay open during regular hours. “We cannot afford to keep our mall shut. There are grocery stores and hypermarts, on which a lot of people depend,” he added.
An official of Acropolis mall added that the mall will remain open.
Ramesh Pandey, whole-time director at Ambuja Neotia that operates City Centre I and II, said the malls would operate during regular hours.
Hotels and restaurants will also operate as usual. Hotel and Restaurant Association of Eastern India (HRAEI) president Sudesh Poddar said most restaurants in the city will be open on Wednesday.
“Our associations (HRAEI or FHRAI) have not given any advisory for closure of any establishment,” he said.
Peter Cat, Mocambo and Peter Hu? owner Nitin Kothari said they will keep the restaurants open. Charles Mantosh, the owner of Waldorf, Floriana and Magnolia, too, said his restaurants would stay open. “The bandh is uncalled for and is a thing of the past,” he added.
The secretary of Calcutta Rowing Club Chandan Roy Chowdhury said it would be business as usual on Wednesday. “There will not be any closure,” he added. The CEO of Tolly Club, V Ganpathy, also added that all the facilities at the club would remain operational.
