CINI lanches Shubhayu, a preventive healthcare and wellness programme for under-priviledged children
KOLKATA: Child In Need Institute (CINI) marked its 52nd Foundation Day in Kolkata with the launch of Shubhayu, a preventive healthcare and wellness initiative aimed at addressing India’s growing burden of non-communicable diseases and long-term health challenges.
On the occasion, founder secretary Samir Chaudhuri presented CINI’s future roadmap with a renewed focus on preventive healthcare, life-course wellness and strengthening community-based health systems.
The initiative was formally inaugurated by CINI CEO Indrani Bhattacharya. The launch marked a strategic shift towards a life-course approach to health and well-being, reinforcing CINI’s commitment to preventive care and community-based health systems.
Project Shubhayu was designed as a holistic model that went beyond conventional healthcare delivery. Envisioned as a way of life, the initiative integrated physical health, mental well-being, social security, environmental harmony and human dignity. It aimed to promote healthy living across all life stages from pre-conception to old age, with a focus on early risk identification, sustained behaviour change and continuity of care.
Addressing the gathering, Bhattacharya said that in the face of rising diabetes, hypertension, anemia, nutrition-related disorders and mental health concerns, particularly in the post-COVID era, Shubhayu would serve as a preventive and equitable healthcare platform for diverse communities. As part of the launch, CINI conducted on-site screening for blood sugar, blood pressure and other preliminary health parameters for attendees.
The event was attended by minister of state for transport Dilip Mandal; West Bengal Commission for Protection of Child Rights (WBCPCR) chairperson Tulika Das; and WBCPCR advisor Ananya Chakraborty Chatterjee, along with senior stakeholders and partners.
