KOLKATA: On Christmas, Park Street is set to get its own dedicated music video that has been produced by the Society for Park Street Rejuvenation, Kolkata (Spark) with Louiz Banks as the composer. City vocalist Somlata Acharyya Chowdhury has sung the Bengali portion of the songs that is a collage of memories and clippings of Park Street’s most favourite faces.
The festivities at Allen Garden will kick off at 9am with the Park Street Heritage Hunt, Christmas lunch with live music by Park Street veterans
Nondon Bagchi and Carlton Kitto, Mel Samuels and followed by launch of the music video, ‘Park Street: The Living Ballad’.
“Writing a theme song for Park Street was so inspiring for me. The very thought of it invoked a lot of positive emotions in me,” said Banks.
“The video can be used by the government in seminars, festivals and fairs across India and abroad. It can be promoted through viral integration in different social media and linked with different global travel sites,” said Supriyo Nandy, the director of the video.
Spark president Monica Bhargav said: “The video captures the myriad essence of Park Street, tracing its genesis and exploring the immense possibilities of the Street and subsequently opening its window to the world. The lyrics of the song are bilingual.”
