Chinese feat for SRFTI students

to get an opportunity to make their own film is China recently. Jayabrata Das and Pragadish Marimuthu visited Looking China Youth Film Project 2019, organised and funded by AICCC-Beijing Normal University, in Rizhao city, Shangdong province.Arun Gupta, one of the professors, went along as the faculty supervisor. The idea was to bring out the flavours of the Chinese culture through their films. Jayabrata made a docu-fiction titled The One Who Stayed. It is based on a modern young woman who is passionate about running a traditional Chinese school, which follows the idea of Confucianism. Jayabrata shot his film in
Qufu
, the birth place of Confucious, which is also where the school is located. The film got a lot of attention and appreciation from the Chinese community for its cinematography, making and innovative narrative. Many of the Chinese faculties and students compared him to internationally renowned filmmakerWong Kar-wai
.Pragadish – an SRFTI student from Tamil Nadu – made a documentary on a one-legged cyclist in the Rizhao language. The title of his documentary is Unbroken Wheels. This film, too, was praised by many. Pragadish shot his film in Rizhao city, Shangdong province. The films will soon be available on different platforms. This is not the first time that SRFTI students have shown their brilliance in filmmaking abroad. In the past too, the students have participated and won various awards internationally.
