Kolkata:
CBI on Saturday questioned an officer of West Bengal Board of Seco- ndary Education (WBBSE) after recording the statement of former
WBBSE president Kalyanmoy Gangopadhyay, now in custody in connection with alleged illegal recruitment of teachers for Class IX and X.
WBBSE deputy secretary (administration) Partha
Pratim Chatterjee, who came to Nizam Palace at 12 noon, told officers he had joined the board recently.
CBI wanted information on the role of officers in the recruitment process. Agency sources said investigators would tally Chatterjee’s version with Gangopadhyay’s recorded statement. The latter had been WBBSE president from 2012 to 2022. The central agency had submitted to the special CBI court on Friday that it would start questioning public servants allegedly involved in the recruitment scam.
