CBI officers in Odisha ahead of Mamata Banerjee-Sudip Bandyopadhyay

KOLKATA: Three

CBI officers

are set to leave for Bhubaneswar on Tuesday, setting the stage for yet another Centre-versus-state showdown. The CBI move comes a day before CM Mamata Banerjee is likely to meet ailing party MP Sudip Bandyopadhyay at Apollo Hospital in Bhubaneswar. Bandyopadhyay, who features in the Rose Valley FIR, is currently in jail custody and the CM is expected to meet him in her personal capacity.

CBI officers indicated the team was being sent to Bhubaneswar to monitor the developments there. It is not yet clear if CBI has approached the court for an order to let its team be present during the

CM-Bandyopadhyay meeting

but the central agency’s decision to send officers there hours ahead of the CM’s departure has left Trinamool seething.
