Cash for jobs: HC for CID probe into cop’s role

Kolkata: Calcutta High Court on Wednesday directed state investigating agency CID to probe a complaint against an assistant commissioner of police posted at Nabanna. Petitioner Priyanka Das alleged that the ACP took money from individuals by promising them jobs at the Kolkata municipal corporation. She complained that police took one Kaustav Das in custody and tortured him to get a confession that he, and not the officer, was involved in the racket.Justice Rajasekhar Mantha directed Das be granted bail and ordered a CID probe.
