Her parents went to police after Srija was detained in school on Friday.
Following the parents' complaint, police arrested the teacher. Ghosh was let off on bail on Saturday.
The school authorities promptly reacted to the incident and called a meeting on Monday. During the meeting, the management apologized and assured the parents that no corporal punishment would be meted out in future.
"The principal assured us that there would be no corporal punishment in future. The school authorities also convinced me that my daughter would not be treated the way she was done on Friday. After getting these assurances, I decided to withdraw the case," said Sabyasachi Das, Srija's father.
