President of the council Manik Bhattacharyya said, "There was no prior notice that they will come to submit a deputation. The Left Front and some of its allies barged into the campus along with some rogues who claimed to be candidates. The gang of 60 then created a ruckus due to which appointments and bridge course examinations came to a halt."
The agitation was over leaked conversation between South 24-Parganas district primary school council chairman Suranjana Chakraborty and Kulpi block president Pradip Mondal. Chakraborty has denied that the voice in the conversation was hers and said that it was tampered.
"We had locked the gates of primary council since the entire examination was a farce and needs to be scrapped. We had gheraoed the office. It is a scam where many top government officials are involved. We have demanded that the guilty should be punished and immediately a investigation should be carried out," said Sayandeep Mitra, state president of Democratic Youth Federation of India.
