Burdwan to get 40 helipads for West Bengal Assembly polls 2016

As directed by the election commission, the Burdwan district administration has prepared a list of 40 temporary helipads for election purposes across 25 assembly segments of Burdwan district.

ASANSOL: As directed by the election commission, the Burdwan district administration has prepared a list of 40 temporary helipads for election purposes across 25 assembly segments of Burdwan district.
The election commission has also directed the district administration not to construct helipads near the campaign ground. For the first time this year the central election commission has directed that helipads can not be constructed just beside the podium of the campaign ground.

The list of all the 40 helipads that are to be set up have been handed over to the different political parties by the Burdwan district administration. A maximum of four helipads have been set up at Memari assembly segment in Burdwan district.
Political party leaders, however, said that it will be a problem for main speakers as they have to come to the campaigning area and then travel back to the faraway helipad, which is time consuming.
Chief minister Mamata Banerjee is the main speaker of the ruling party in Burdwan district and will reach several campaigning grounds through helicopters. There will be three helipads for Asansol north assembly segment.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to come to the Polo Ground in Asansol on April 8 for campaigning. Home minister Rajnath Singh will campaign in Kulti. HRD minister Smriti Zubin Irani, actor turned MPs like Manoj Tewari, Hema Malini and BJP president Amit Shah are likely to campaign in the district as well.
There are chances of Congress president Sonia Gandhi, vice president Rahul Gandhi and other heavyweight leaders of the Congress party to campaign for their candidates in the district.
