Buddhadeb Dasgupta admitted to ICU

Veteran director Buddhadeb Dasgupta

has been admitted to the intensive care unit (

ICU

) of a city nursing home. Following a sudden heart condition, his wife -

film-maker Sohini Dasgupta

- rushed him to the nursing home on Monday night.

Dasgupta was doing fine on Monday morning and had also started writing his new script. Around 9 in the evening, he suddenly collapsed while listening to music. On the advice of Dasgupta’s cardiologist, he was immediately rushed to the nursing home. Though the director gained consciousness, he suffered from a complete blackout. Even after being shifted to the emergency, this same condition happened a couple of times over. “Later, I learnt that in medical parlance, this condition is called transient atrioventricular block,” she said.
