Brazil football legend Cafu to visit Kolkata

KOLKATA: Brazil’s World Cup-winning captain Cafu is set to take part in a charity football match for Kolkata Police during his visit to the city later this week. Cafu is also scheduled to call on CM Mamata Banerjee and former India captain Sourav Ganguly, during his stay from Friday to Monday.


The charity match — Friendship Cup — is being hosted by Bengal Peerless Housing Development Company to mark the 125th birth anniversary of Netaji. “Kolkata holds a very special place in my heart as we share the same passion and madness for football. I have heard that Bengal has a huge Brazilian fan following. India is a very passionate football nation, I look forward to meeting a whole new generation of fans while continuing to spread love and passion I have for this great sport,” Cafu said.

Cafu is scheduled to attend a chat show where he will present a Selecao jersey to the CM and a pair of football boots to Sourav. Cafu will also attend a football workshop.
