KOLKATA: The Howrah police surprised a satta bookie in his den on Saturday evening. Subrata Banerjee was arrested from a hideout in Chengail Cinematala Road in Uluberia, and board money to the tune of Rs 45,690 seized from him.
Howrah SP Zulfiquar Hasan said Banerjee was also a bootlegger. Thirty foreign liquor bottles were found in the house, as were a mobile phone and wads of used and unused satta pads.
The raid was part of an ongoing crackdown against satta rackets, which have links in Mumbai.
