This is first time in its 141-year-old history that DHR will run a night train.

DHR director Priyanshu said: "Along with other events, we will operate a special ride. We feel it will be a different and amazing experience for people to take the ride at night."

The night ride is a special offering that is expected to be run every Saturday and Sunday at 6pm till the festival ends on December 4. On normal occasions, the first ride starts at 9.20 in the morning with the last one starting at 3.45 in the evening.

Talking about the Ghoom Festival, the DHR director said: "Our event is based around the culture and heritage of the DHR. We want to promote toy train and its rich history. We will also have a competition besides music and food," said Priyanshu.

The DHR was conferred with the heritage status by Unesco in 1999 and since then, it has had to face its fair share of ups and down. However, with the incorporation of innovative ideas and introduction of new rides in air-conditioned and vistadome coaches, revamping the stations and offering restaurant coaches, the DHR is now flourishing to its full potential, the director said.
