Bomb attack on BJP MLA’s Haldia home

HALDIA: Unidentified persons hurled

at the Durgachak residence of CPM defector and BJP MLA Tapasi Mandal in the small hours of Friday, reports Suman Mandal. Police have recovered two live bombs near the house, located in Ward 7 of Haldia Municipality.


The MLA squarely blamed “Trinamool-backed goons” for the attack. She claimed that this wasn’t the first time her home had been targeted. She also alleged that police framed her husband in three-four cases at the behest of the ruling party. “Around 3am, I woke up to a deafening noise. Later, two live bombs were found near the stairway,” she said.

Trinamool leader Debaprasad Mandal rubbished the MLA’s allegations. “Trinamool doesn’t need to hurl bombs. CPM’s Haldia MLA is now BJP’s asset. Her former party colleagues are livid over her joining the BJP. Also, there is a factional feud in the BJP. This is just another bid to malign Trinamool,” he said.
