patna: flood situation further worsened in bihar's gopalganj, and east and west champaran districts on tuesday following heavy discharge of water in the turbulent gandak with incessant rains in its upstream in nepal. about two to three lakh cusecs were being regularly released at almiki nagar barrage in gandak due to continuous inflow from nepal, official sources said.
incessant rains had led to floods in several rivers of himalayan ori-gin including oraj, bangrim pasaha and tilawe, inundating vast countryside areas in east and west champaran districts, the sources said. according to state relief and rehabilitation department sources, 36 people were reported to have been killed in the current spell of floods in the state.
