KOLKATA: The state government has decided to set up core groups from various related departments to work out a roadmap on agri-business activities in the districts. The core groups will have people from the industry as members, chief secretary H K Dwivedi said while chairing the Agri-Business Meet 2022 on Saturday.
The meet organised at Nabanna at the behest of chief minister Mamata Banerjee had 220 participants from agri-business industry, farm producers’ organisations and business units dealing in poultry, milk, fisheries and fish feed, meat processing, potato and other vegetables, fruits, rice bran oil, ethanol, pulses and oilseeds.
Pradip Kumar Mazumdar, advisor to CM on agriculture and allied sectors, was also present along with secretaries from various departments.
Sanjeev Puri, chairman of ITC, who joined the meet virtually, stressed on R&D and market linkage as per local needs and preferences. The chief secretary said that under the CM’s leadership, there has been rapid increase in the agricultural scenario in Bengal.
The state is the leading producer of rice, jute, vegetables and fish seeds, Dwivedi said.
