Bengal govt to table Budget on February 15

Kolkata: The state government will table its Budget in the assembly on February 15, and discussions on it will start on February 16. West Bengal governor C V Ananda Bose will inaugurate the Budget session on Wednesday. The government has planned legislation on giving freehold rights to purchasers of government land, moving away from the old practice of giving land on lease.The government has planned to place two bills on the Sari and Sarna religions of the Adivasis, which chief minister Mamata Banerjee has referred to from time to time, said parliamentary affairs minister Shobhandeb Chatterjee.The government will also bring a resolution against the bid to divide Bengal following demands in certain quarters of cutting out a portion of north Bengal. “Different people are speaking about the division of the state,” said assembly Speaker Biman Banerjee. When asked where he would allot the seat for Alipurduar MLA Suman Kanjilal after he switched to Trinamool from BJP, the speaker said he was not aware of the development.
