Back-to-back wins for East Bengal

Kolkata: East Bengal maintained their winning momentum in the Calcutta Football League Premier Division beating Kidderpore SC 2-0 at the Naihati Stadium on Thursday.Due to injury concerns to a number of players, coach Bino George was forced to field three members of the senior side namely Souvik Chakraborty, Tuhin Das and Gursinrat Singh and that lifted the side’s show.In spite of creating a number of scoring opportunities, the red-and-gold brigade had to wait till the 32nd minute to go ahead when Tuhin dribbled past an opposition player after collecting the ball from the centre circle and scored with a long-ranger.However, EB could not increase the tally as Kidderpore tried to stage a comeback by playing attacking football.Young midfielder Shyamal Besra, who substituted Md Niyas in the 75th minute, finally netted the second goal in the first minute of the second-half stoppage time. This back-to-back victory took EB to the top of Group B with seven points and will lift the morale of George’s boys ahead of their next game at the home ground.In the other matches of the day, Rainbow AC defeated Police 1-0 while BSS played out a 1-1 draw with West Bengal Police.tnn
