ASANSOL: Sub-inspectors Tirthendu Ganguly and Arghya Mondal have been appointed as the new officers-in-charge (OC) of Raniganj and Baraboni police stations respectively.
Incidentally, both these officers have earlier served in the same post. Ganguly was suspended by then police commissioner Ajay Kumar Nand for allegedly selling scrap iron seized by the police.
Three of his increments were stopped during departmental investigations. Thereafter, he was moved to the detective department (DD).
Both these officers, who are posted in the DD of the Asansol-Durgapur Police Comissionerate and are now in Mumbai regarding a probe, have been asked to come back and join on Thursday.
However, Asansol's BJP candidate
Babul Supriyo is not happy with Ganguly's posting. He told Times Of India that he will lodge a complaint with EC on Thursday against Ganguly. "How can a suspended OC become the OC of the same police station again?" he asked.
Meanwhile, SIs Anjan Roy and Sudip Das of Burdwan Sadar police station have been posted as the new OCs of Mongolkote and Kanksha, Burdwan SP Neeraj Khalid said.
