As BJP steps up heat after SC hearing, TMC says it’ll submit ‘evidence’ in court
Nandigram/New Delhi: As BJP upped the ante after the Supreme Court's decision to stay Kolkata Police's FIR against ED officials and its observations on the central agency's allegations against CM Mamata Banerjee, Trinamool on Thursday said they too had "evidence" that will be shown to courts at the right time.Speaking to reporters in Nandigram, TMC national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee said: "Read ED's panchnama. Go through what ED officers themselves recorded after the search. We also have certain evidence that will be placed before the court at the appropriate time."
Reiterating that "we, too, possess certain documents and evidence," Abhishek added: "Those who are making false statements before Supreme Court will have no place to hide if we move a contempt of court petition with the evidence."BJP said the apex court's decision and observations against Mamata were a "slap on the face of her govt", alleging that "she has come to symbolise anarchy and jungle raaj". "Mamata Banerjee spreads anarchy, destroys evidence, threatens ED officials, toys with the law and weakens the Constitution, and is the embodiment of anarchy," BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia said. The court's observations were a serious indictment of her conduct as CM, he claimed.Bhatia referred to a series of incidents, from the commotion caused by a surging crowd at Calcutta HC to her govt's allegedly biased intervention in previous cases being probed by central agencies, including CBI and NIA.Abhishek said: "What we want to point out is that I-PAC does not have offices only in Bengal. It has offices in Hyderabad and Chennai as well. There are three other directors of I-PAC. Yet, searches were conducted only in Bengal.""The Supreme Court has delivered its order, and everyone is bound to comply with it. However, this is an interim order. Whether the interim order will be extended or repealed is entirely at the court's discretion. The legal battle will go on," he said."The SC will also decide if the case will be heard at SC or HC. But ED does not want the matter to be heard in the HC," Abhishek added.
