Kolkata: The hooves pounding on the turf will be heard again after a short break here at the RCTC on Wednesday, the opening day of the Calcutta Winter Season with a card of six races. The day’s feature event of the afternoon is the RWITC Cup to be run over a scurry and has eight contestants in the fray. It is a straight contest between the Madras import Anastasia and Full Volume who is eyeing a hat-trick of wins. D’pesh Narredu-trained Anastasia gets the first call. The four-year-old daughter of Cleminti has worked well and should sprint away in the hands of Trevor Patel.

Note: The stewards of the Madras Race Club have decided to postpone the Madras races of Friday to November 18, also a Friday. They have further decided to postpone the Madras races scheduled for November 17 to November 23 (Wednesday). Accordingly, Inter-State betting will be conducted at the Kolkata race course on both days.
