KOLKATA: Despite his not-so pleasant stint with television, Amaan Ali Bangash, the illustrious son-disciple of sarod maestro Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, says he is not averse to romancing the medium that launched him as an anchorperson.
“My experience with the telly serial Saregama was not a very memorable one as I found out after a few episodes that it fell far short of what we had been promised at the outset, Amaan told PTI in an interview here.

Amaan, who co-anchored the serial with his sarod player brother Ayaan for two years said he did not want to renew the contract which had ended recently as it was not a pure classical music show.
“Before beginning, we were given an impression that it would be an out and out classical music programme but it turned out to be many other things. Down the months, we did not like doing the show any more, he said.
However, more offers have come his way and this time around Amaan would be a wee bit more cautious before giving a nod.
“I have a few more television offers at hand and I am being careful in my choice. Anything that reflects the tradition and heritage which the Bangash gharana stands for would be welcome, Amaan said. The brothers have also chalked out grand plans for their recently launched company ‘Bangash music’.
