All-faith delegation meets at Belur Math

A 13-member all-faith delegation comprising members from Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Parsi and Bohra communities met Swami Suvirananda, general secretary of Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, at Belur Math on Thursday to discuss climate change mitigation, international politics based on inclusivity and peace, and the need to restore the democratic credentials of the country.

KOLKATA: A 13-member all-faith delegation comprising members from Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Parsi and Bohra communities met Swami Suvirananda, general secretary of Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, at Belur Math on Thursday to discuss climate change mitigation, international politics based on inclusivity and peace, and the need to restore the democratic credentials of the country.

Led by social entrepreneur Imran Zaki, the team had Shahnshah Mirza, the great grandson of Nawab Wajid ali Shah, Ghazala Yasmin, HoD of journalism and mass communication at Aliah University, Tehnaz Dastoor, former consultant with UNICEF, Dashmeshbir Singh from the United Interfaith Foundation, and others. Swami Suvirananda said, "At Ramakrishna Mission, we welcome every one as our own and it is our pleasure to work in collaboration to spread the message of universal love and peace."
According to Zaki, there is a need to replicate the ideals of Swami Vivekananda and the Ramakrishna Mission for building an inclusive society based on service to mankind, which is the essence of every religion.
