“In the 50s, my father had drawn the cover of a book on music by his father, Subho Guhathakurta (the founder of Dakshinee). That’s how far our family association goes. He had great contacts and would quietly help people tapping them. If we needed a house for shooting, he would help us find one. The ending of ‘Agantuk’ was shot at the Guhathakurta’s Santiniketan house,” said director Sandip Ray who had directed him in ‘Phatikchand’ and ‘Goopy Bagha Phire Elo’.
The actor’s oeuvre also included Satyajit Ray’s ‘Ganashatru’ and ‘Shakha Prashakha’, Tapan Sinha’s ‘Raja’, ‘Harmonium’, ‘Atanka’, ‘Antardhan’, ‘Baidurja Rahashya’, ‘Adalat O Ekti Meye’ and ‘Bancharamer Bagan’ and Rajen Tarafdar’s ‘Nagpash’.
