KOLKATA: The 9th India probiotic symposium organised by the Gut Microbiota and Probiotic Science Foundation (India) along with Amity University, ICMR-National Institute of Cholera and Enteric Diseases (NICED), Kolkata and the Indian Institute of Liver and Digestive Sciences (IILDS), Kolkata started off on Saturday with a focus to establish the relevance of intestinal microbiota and the role of probiotics and its benefits during various stages of life like during pregnancy, neonates, infants, children, adults and the elderly.
The topic of discussion at the two day symposium is “Probiotics through the lifespan” where global experts in this field are sharing their experiences on the various research and advances that are taking on the science of intestinal microbiota and benefits of probiotics.
