KOLKATA: This may sadden canine lovers. Six stray dogs were poisoned to death in just one week in the city's Patuli area.
On May 16, the bodies of six dogs was discovered in Patuli, with three more corpses turning up three days later.
TMC councilor Bappaditya Dasgupta lodged a complaint about the incidents. In a prompt reaction, the police registered FIR against unknown persons under section 429 of the IPC (mischief by killing or maiming any animal).
"The dogs were killed in BP Township area of Patuli," alleged Dasgupta. He believes the residents are behind this.
A protest rally was organized on Sunday by councilor Dasgupta and over two hundred locals participated in it. A Facebook page has also been created to sensitize people to stop the killing of stray dogs.
Animal lover and TMC MLA
