KOLKATA: In one of the largest reshuffles in the history of Kolkata Police, 52 officers were transferred on Saturday. "Most of those transferred are from the central division of Kolkata Police," said a senior officer of Kolkata Police. Among the major officers-in-charge transferred are Kumar Shankar Ojha from Burrabazar to the traffic department, Hiren Das from Shakespeare Sarani to the detective department and Swapan Mitra from Karaya PS to Shyampukur police station.
While Ojha will be replaced by OC Taratala PS, Nanda Dulal Pal, Gariahat OC Dulal Chakroborty and Ahmerst Street OC Alok Ghosh will take charge of Shakespeare Sarani and Karaya, respectively. Meanwhile, Posta OC Swapan Ghosh has been shifted to Cossipore and OC Maidan M Rehman will replace him. Bhowanipore OC Dulal Dey, who has been transferred to the special branch, will be replaced by Badal Maity of Phoolbagan. One of the most senior inspectors, Anil Kar of Shyampukur PS, has been shunted to the traffic department. Seven more inspectors have been transferred to the detective department.
