4th gang member held for Gulshan Colony violence
Kolkata: Police on Friday arrested the fourth accused—Mohammad Amber aka Mohammad Nafis—involved in the shootings and vandalism at Gulshan Colony on Thursday. The arrest came hours before mayor Firhad Hakim on Saturday asked police to be more "active and vigilant" to deter such incidents in future.Amber (26) was caught outside his Gulshan Colony home late at night. He was booked under multiple charges, including violation of Arms Act. The three others arrested were Md Sajid, Ahmed Hossain alias Md Madhu, and Raja Khan, residents of nearby areas of West Chowbhaga and Tiljala. Police said all were believed to be members of the gang being run by Mini Firoze, a tough, who had been trying to regain control of the area. Lalbazar has ordered an overhaul of criminal data management. Police stations and detective branches have been told to compile profiles of offenders, with their personal and family details, financial activities and social media presence.
