4 youths killed in Kurseong car accident, 1 missing

The bodies of Vikram Das (21), Subrata Das (20), Rishabh Das (17) and Abhranil Kundu (21), all residents of Rath Khola in Siliguri, have been found while a search is on to trace the fifth youth, Raj Singh (19), a resident of Milan Palli in the town, and the vehicle.
According to sources, Vikram, Subrata, Rishabh and Abhranil had left in a private car for a picnic at Lataguri in the Dooars on Saturday morning. Around 9pm, they returned to Siliguri, where Raj joined them, and decided to visit Kurseong. Their family members had contacted them late at night. After they failed to get in touch on Sunday, the families lodged a missing complaint with police.
“Based on the missing complaint, cops in Siliguri contacted Kurseong police, who recovered four bodies at Kargil Dara. A search operation is on to find the fifth youth and the vehicle they were travelling in. The family members have reached Kurseong,” said a police officer.
Vikram was a first-year student of Munshi Premchand Mahavidyalaya in Siliguri and Subrata a first-year student of Suryasen Mahavidyalaya. Rishabh studied in Class XII of an English-medium school at Sukna near Siliguri. Abhranil and Raj were school dropouts. The youths did not have driving licence.
“Arrangements are being made to send the bodies for postmortem at North Bengal Medical College and Hospital,” said Darjeeling superintendent of police Amarnath.
