38-year-old found hanging at Dhakuria home

KOLKATA: A 38-year-old BBA graduate and an event manager, who was apparently reeling under huge debt, was found hanging from the ceiling fan of his sister’s house at Dhakuria’s Babubagan on Friday morning.
Police said Saptarshi Roy Chowdhury had left his Beni Banerjee Avenue home and come to the two-storey Dhakuria house of his sister, who lives in Canada. He moved straight to the first-floor room, walking
past the ground floor that’s occupied by four paying guests, around 9.30am. Around 10.30am, his mother came and knocked on the doors. “Finding no response from her son, she called police, who broke the door and found Chowdhury hanging from a ceiling fan,” said a source.
“It seems to be a case of suicide. Chowdhury had no job and had a huge debt to repay. No suicide note was found,” said an officer of Lake PS.
