3 killed in two accidents

Kolkata: A speeding truck hit a motorcycle at the Jatindra Mohan Avenue-Arabinda Sarani crossing on Saturday night, killing rider Ritesh Sharma (24) and pillion rider Bikash Thakur (20). A second pillion rider, Dipak Shaw, has been seriously injured. None of them was wearing a helment, police said.
The truck driver was arrested and the vehicle seized.
Two Sealdah-bound buses of routes 227 and 234 were racing against each other on AJC Bose Road when one of them (227) two pedestrians near Nonapukur tram depot. One of them, whose identity is yet to be established, was declared dead at Calcutta National Medical College, while the other one was injued. tnn
