2kg heroin worth 2cr seized

Kolkata: The Bengal STF – which has been made the nodal state anti-drug unit – has seized heroin worth Rs 2 crore in the state. The latest seizure – around 2 kg – were made at Baduria. Over 14kg of heroin has been seized in the state since March.
According to SP (Operations, Bengal STF) Indranil Basu, a team on Wednesday laid a trap on the Maslandapur-Tentulia Road in Baduria based on information that there will be movement of contraband narcotics. “Accordingly, two suspects — Biplab Mondal (35) of Bongaon Rail Bazar and Lincoln Kanjilal (37) of Bongaon town — were detained. Around 2kg heroin was found on them. Besides drugs, a motor cycle which was being used to transport the drugs was also seized. A case has been started at Baduria police station under NDPS Act, 1985. “Cops are now trying to unearth the drug trafficking racket that has a client base even in Kolkata,” said an investigating officer.
