20-year-old shot at by arms trader, 2 held

MIDNAPORE: An engineering student was injured when an alleged arm trader fired at a group of youths at Midnapore on Wednesday evening. The youths allegedly got involved in an altercation with the trader and his companion over two girls who were accompanying the duo.
The victim, Sourodeep Roy (20), sustained bullet injury on his leg. The accused -Sourav Bose (21) and Manoj Bhattacharya (25) -were rounded up on the highway on Thursday when they were fleeing on a bike.
The duo also fired at police but were finally nabbed. Two 9mm pistols with 10 cartridges and two countrymade guns with 19 bullets were recovered. SP Bharati Ghosh said the duo was part of an arms trading racket.They were remanded in police custody for six days.
