KOLKATA: Two

mysterious

deaths, one suspected to be a

homicide

, were reported in the city early on Tuesday morning.

A building contractor, Mukesh Shaw (43), was found dead inside his residence at Sonali Park, Bansdroni, hours after he returned from a

wedding

ceremony. Police said he was found dead by his younger brother Sanjay around 6.40am. Mukesh was found face down, lying slumped on the floor with a

chopper

in his hand. He had deep injuries on his neck and shoulder. Cops claimed the manner of blood flow has made them suspect foul play.

“Prima facie, it looks more like a murder. The wounds do not support self infliction. However, we are waiting for the initial postmortem report,” said DC (SSD) Rashid Munir Khan.

In another incident, Sumanta Ghosh (37), a manager who works for an online

travel

site, was found dead around 7.05am on a pavement in front of a

guest

house on Rajani Sen Road, Mudiali, where he had checked in to evaluate it on behalf of his company. CCTV footage showed he had fallen from the top of the four-storey building.
