2 killed after bike hits truck

Kolkata: Two persons died after their bike hit a truck on Kidderpore Road near Ghora Crossing around 8.30pm on Tuesday. Cops said the victims, biker Subhendu Das (48), a resident of Belgachhia Road near Milk Colony, and his pillion rider, Subrato Roy (48), a resident of Mahajati Nagar in Birati — who worked in different consumer goods companies — came under the wheels of the truck. The accident happened when the victims were heading towards Red Road from Taratala. Both of them were wearing helmets. The two were rushed to SSKM Hospital where they were declared dead. The driver, Rameshwar Roy (52), who hails from Bihar’s Muzaffarpur and resides in Bhowanipore, stopped the truck after the accident. He was arrested and a case of death due to rash and negligent driving was registered against him at the Hastings police station. TNN
