KOLKATA: Two persons died of dengue at the Infectious Diseases & Beleghata General Hospital early on Saturday. Pritam Bhowmik, 34 and Madhu Singh, 16, both residents of Motijheel in Dum Dum, succumbed to the virus at the hospital. While Bhowmik was admitted to the hospital on Friday with severe dengue symptoms, including high fever and haemorrhage, Madhu had been admitted to another hospital seven days ago and later shifted to ID hospital. She had been admitted to the CCU where she passed away on Saturday morning. Bhowmik died at around 3.45 am.

While Bhowmik's death certificate mentioned 'cardio-respiratory failure due to haemorrhagic manifestation in a case of dengue NS1 reactive fever' as cause of death, Madhu's death certificate mentioned 'dengue shock syndrome'.
