KOLKATA: Two doctors and a nurse of the Calcutta Heart Clinic and Hospital were charged with attempt to murder and voluntarily causing grievous hurt to policemen. This was confirmed by Salt Lake SDPO Sujay Chandra on Wednesday.
Doctors Subhas Das, Sunit Gupta and nurse Rituparna Sengupta were booked under Section 302 and 325 of the IPC. Police said that the three attacked them when they intervened on Monday after receiving complaints of land-grabbing by the hospital authorities.
Meanwhile, hospital sources claimed that the allegation about the two doctors and a nurse attacking the police was false. “We are really concerned about the way the police administration is unleashing terror on us. There must be a political motive behind this.� Chandra, however, denied any political motive. He said his men did their duty following the law of the land.
Meanwhile, Bidhan Nagar Municipality chairman Dilip Gupta was ap-prised about the development by the hospital authorities. Trinamul MP Ranjit Panja also visited the hospital and condemned the police action. Hospital administrator Ajay Chatterjee said they would move court against the statuesque brought by former RMO Urmila Sen Choudhury.
