1st pedestrian subway plan for Salt Lake

KOLKATA: KMDA is planning to set up a pedestrian subway in Salt Lake’s Karunamoyee crossing for the convenience of daily commuters during office hours and keeping in mind pedestrian traffic towards Central Park fairground during large fairs and events.

Authorities will prepare a proposed design of the subway. If finalised, it will be the first pedestrian subway in Salt Lake.

KMDA, transport department and traffic police officials recently conducted a spot inspection of the proposed location. According to the proposal, the underpass will connect Karunamoyee bus terminus and Vidyasagar Bhavan, officials said. “This is the only available spot for the subway,” an official said.
