₹15 lakh wedding theft: Relative held

Kolkata: One person was arrested after jewellery worth Rs 15 lakh was stolen from a wedding at Bakeswar in South 24 Parganas on Sunday. Piyali Bag, mother of the groom, wore the ornaments. One of her relatives was later arrested for the theft. Bag had put the jewellery in the locker of an almirah after the ceremony was over on Saturday. Next day, she found that the ornaments were missing.Mainak Banerjee, inspector in charge of Bishnupur police station, led the probe. Police summoned all relatives on Sunday. The ornaments have also been recovered. tnn
