KOLKATA: A man was killed and three others were injured in three different accidents in the city at
Salt Lake
and New Town between Sunday night and Monday afternoon. Around 11pm on Sunday, Madan Sai, 35, was returning home on his bicycle when he was run over by a speeding vehicle near
Akansha
crossing on Rajarhat Expressway. He was taken to a nearby private hospital by police where he succumbed to his injuries.
On Monday afternoon, around 3.30pm, an auto of route Karunamoyee –
Ultadanga
rammed into a school bus of New Town School near
Mayukh Bhavan
in Salt Lake.
Police said, the auto driver was taking an illegal U turn when the accident happened. None of the children in the school bus were hurt but the auto driver Aritra sarkar, 34 and one of the passengers sitting beside the driver, Avijit Naskar, 44 suffered injuries. They were admitted at the nearby
Bidhannagar
sub divisional hospital. Police have started a case of rash and negligent driving against the auto driver and have seized the auto. Earlier in the day, a young biker was injured when he had rammed behind a crane on Rajarhat Expressway near Eco Park. The biker, Md. Saiful was taken to a private hospital wherefrom he was discharged after first aid.
