Two attempt suicide in police custody

Kolhapur: Two men in police custody, allegedly associated with the Ichalkaranji-based Germany Gang, tried to end their lives by consuming pesticide while in police custody.
Ananda Germany and Akshay Gondugale, were among 15 people against whom the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Act was invoked. The court had sent the duo to police custody.On Monday, they were found unconscious while in police custody and were rushed to IGM Hospital for treatment.
The police are investigating how the criminals got hold of the pesticide and trying to ascertain the reason behind their action. Recently, the duo was charged for kidnapping and extorting a trader.
