2 returning with holy flame from Tuljapur die as van falls in trench along highway

Kolhapur: Two men lost their lives after the pickup van they were travelling in with six others fell into a trench alongside the Solapur-Mangalweda highway on Thursday morning.
The men, from Gonewadi village in Mangalweda tehsil of Solapur district, had gone to Tuljapur to get the holy jyot (flame) on the occasion of the first day of Navaratra. They were on their way back when the accident occurred.
The deceased have been identified as 28-year-old Pradip Kshirsagar and 30-year-old Netaji Karale. Six people, including the driver of the vehicle, were injured in the accident. The injured are 17-year-old Mahesh Bandgar, Vaibhav Hajare (24), Sohail Mulani (25), Samadhan Masal (30), Rohit Kasbe (20), and 12-year-old Rohit Chavan. All of them are residents of Gonewadi village. They have been admitted to the Solapur Civil Hospital.
