Tourist slips & falls 300ft into valley in Amboli
Kolhapur: A 45-year-old tourist from Kolhapur visiting Amboli for monsoon tourism slipped and fell into the 300-foot deep Kawalesad valley of Sindhudurg district on Friday evening.Police identified the tourist as Rajendra Balaso Sangar of Chile colony in Kolhapur, who worked with Kolhapur Zilla Parishad.According to preliminary information, Sangar came to Amboli with 14 colleagues to enjoy the Amboli waterfall and Kawalesad Point. On Friday evening, while standing near the railing at Kawalesad Point, he slipped slipped and fell into the valley.Upon receiving information about the incident, Amboli remote area police constable Manish Shinde and other police personnel immediately reached the spot. The Amboli Rescue Team was called too. However, due to the darkness and dense fog, the rescue operation was halted.Constable Manish Shinde said, "Sarpanch Sagar Dhokare of Gele village informed us about the incident. Due to darkness, rain and dense fog, it was not possible to conduct a search operation on Friday till late night. Therefore, the search operation will resume Saturday morning."
