Satej Patil endorses Rahul Patil for Karvir assembly poll ticket

Kolhapur: MLC Satej Patil, who is also the Kolhapur district Congress president, has announced that former zilla parishad president Rahul Patil will contest on a Congress ticket from the Karvir assembly segment.P N Patil, the Congress MLA of Karvir, passed away a couple of months ago. Satej Patil has now declared Rahul Patil the political successor of the late P N Patil."Rahul Patil is clean, and he is ready to work hard for the people of the constituency. I am standing behind him, and Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) will ensure he wins the assembly election and take forward his father's legacy."Importantly, the Congress district president has succeeded in getting Rahul Patil the backing of cooperative movement veteran Arun Narke's supporters in Karvir tehsil. Narke's son Chetan was interested in contesting the Lok Sabha elections, but he had failed to secure the MVA nomination. The Karvir assembly segment is spread across three tehsils — Karvir, Panhala, and Gaganbawda."In the Lok Sabha elections, the Karvir assembly constituency gave a lead of 71,000 votes to Congress candidate Shahu Chhatrapati. This time, in the absence of P N Patil, we expect the margin of votes for Rahul Patil to touch 1 lakh. It will be a fitting tribute to the late Congress politician," said Satej Patil.Rahul Patil will face Chandradip Narke, who is going to contest on a Shiv Sena ticket. Chandradip Narke had won the assembly seat twice, first after delimitation in 2009 and then again in 2014. He was defeated by Congress veteran P N Patil by 22,000 votes.
