Satara edu society to tie up with IBM, Microsoft: Pawar
Kolhapur: Satara’s Rayat Shikshan Sanstha, an educational society that is currently headed by NCP chief Sharad Pawar, is going to tie up with global tech companies such as IBM and Microsoft to expand students’ knowledge.Pawar was on a visit to Satara on Tuesday to attend the annual general meeting of the sanstha. He was re-elected president of the educational society without any opposition.He also paid homage to Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil, the founder of Rayat Shikshan Sanstha. Pawar, baring one year during the Covid pandemic, has always come on May 9 to Satara to pay homage to Patil and preside over Rayat's annual.Pawar, speaking after the annual general meeting, said, “IBM is one of the renowned companies. Students of Rayat Shikshan Sanstha will get a chance to work at IBM. To gain knowledge on new concepts such as Artificial Intelligence, a discussion with companies like Microsoft will also be started.”Pawar said science is opening new avenues for jobs and research. “In pursuit of knowledge, many of us thought to expand Rayat at a global level and take the help of global institutions. We, therefore, have thought of a tie-up with one of the most prestigious universities — Oxford,” said Pawar.The NCP chief felicitated the achievers, including Leader of Opposition Ajit Pawar for his contribution to the growth of the Rayat Shikshan Sanstha. “Bhaurao Patil always thought of the marginalised people and encouraged Dalits and Adivasis in his organisation. Today, 54% of employees in the sanstha are from backward communities. The most satisfying thing is that 49% of the students are girls,” said Pawar.The Rayat Shikshan Sanstha has been expanded to 737 educational institutes with more than 4.3 lakh students. The total outlay of the society has reached Rs 1,200 crore.
