Rohit praises uncle Ajit Pawar for positive change in Beed, but says more needs to be done
Kolhapur: NCP (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar on Saturday sprang a surprise by praising his uncle and deputy CM Ajit Pawar, crediting him with bringing about some positive changes in Beed and establishing control over the local police department."People in Beed have noticed a positive change to some extent over the last 2-3 months, with Ajit Pawar gaining control over the police administration since becoming the guardian minister," Rohit said.Rohit's statement comes days after party chief Sharad Pawar hinted at a possible reunion between the two factions of NCP, led by him and his nephew Ajit Pawar, respectively. The speculation gained momentum after the two Pawars shared the stage together at multiple programmes, including an event in Mumbai and another in Pune. The reunion buzz got stronger after Ajit Pawar showered praises on his uncle, Sharad Pawar, on two recent occasions. He praised the veteran politician for his contribution to Maharashtra women reservation bill, saying, "Sharad Pawar, as the then CM, ensured the bill's passage in the House at 3.30am." Though Rohit acknowledged the progress under his uncle, he said Ajit Pawar needed to work more in the law and order situation in Beed. "The recent viral video of a young man being beaten up by a mob shows that some sections have developed a habit of violence. To break this habit, Ajit Pawar will need more time and should give more attention to law and order and the police administration," he said. The young MLA dismissed BJP's ‘Tiranga Yatra' as a political stunt, saying, "Some politicians are giving credit to a particular leader instead of our defence forces, which is painful. In reality, it's our armed forces that keep peoplesafe."He said Congress MP Shashi Tharoor would ensure that he presented India's view on the international platform. "Congress complaint that the party was not consulted while nominating MPs to present India's view before the world is justified, but govt is of the opinion that it has randomly selected the MPs, which is fine. I hope that Tharoor and others present the views of India in a balanced and non-political way," Rohit added.
