Revenue officials transferred ahead of polls

KOLHAPUR: Eight revenue officers, including six tehsildars from the district, have been transferred ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. The criteria for the transfers were the officers completing three years of tenure in the district and Kolhapur being their home district.
District officals said the transfers were ordered as per the guidelines of the Election Commission (EC) to conduct free and fair elections.Two months ago, the transfer of additional collector Appasaheb Dhulaj had ruffled political parties and social organizations. Members had organized rallies at the collectorate demanding cancellation of Dhulaj's transfer. However, district administration officials had justified the transfer stating that Dhulaj belongs to Kolhapur district (Gadhinglaj taluka) and as per the EC's guidelines, the officer cannot be on duty in his home district.
Karveer tehsildar Sharad Patil has been transferred to Maval (Pune district). Hatkanangale tehsildar Guru Birajdar has been transferred to Akkalkot (Solapur district), Shirol tehsildar Sanjay Patil has been transferred to Purandar (Pune), tehsildar Sunil Sherkhane (disaster management ), Shivaji Nalawade will be special executive officer of Karveer and land acquisition officer Pradeep Kaduskar has been transferred to Pune. Assistant district supply officer Sunita Nerlekar has been transferred within the district, while entertainment tax officer Anita Deshmukh has been transferred to Sangli.
Yogesh Kharamate will take over as Karveer tehsildar, while Dipak Shinde will be tehsildar of Hatkanangale. Sachin Giri will take charge as Shirol tehsildar and Kalpana Dhawale will take charge as entertainment tax officer in Kolhapur district.
The district is gearing up for elections in the two Lok Sabha constituencies, Hatkanangale and Kolhapur. Transfer of officers is a part of the preparations. Two days ago, the home department had announced the transfer of police officers from the district.
