Prithviraj Patil to file papers with or without Cong ticket

Kolhapur: Congress Sangli city president Prithviraj Patil would file his nomination on Oct 29 irrespective of his party giving him the ticket.Supporters of Prithviraj have appealed to him to contest the assembly election slated for Nov 20.Sangli constituency has always been tough for Congress. And now the party is looking at a challenge of reaching a deal between Prithviraj Patil, who lost to BJP's Sudhir Gadgil in 2019 by merely 6,000 votes, and Jayashri Patil, wife of the late Congress leader Madan Patil. Jayashri is from the family of the late chief minister Vasantdada Patil. She has declared that she will file her nomination on Oct 28. The Congress faction led by Jayashri is demanding that Prithviraj should take a break and sacrifice for party's victory in Sangli. Prithviraj, on the other hand, has already started campaigning. On Thursday, during a meeting with his supporters, he announced that he aims to reclaim the seat that the party lost by a small margin.
